Freda Schopfer, a former middle school teacher for 30 years in the Upper Moreland School District, was recently featured in an article by KYW Newsradio titled “Freda Schopfer, 89, says being a Phillies fan is ‘part of your heart’”.

The article discusses Schopfer’s longtime relationship with the Philadelphia Phillies.

“Just remember that there’s good times and there’s bad times and I’ve been through a lot of it over the many, many years,” she said. “But it takes a lot to be a fan. It’s part of your heart and that’s where it all is. As you said earlier, that we care, and it’s just part of being part of Philadelphia.”

Since 2010, she has served as the owner of Curves, a women’s fitness center in Dublin. From Dublin Town Center’s Instagram post:

Freda feels a facility like hers is extremely necessary for women 40 and up because there are no men, no mirrors, a special camaraderie, and concern for each other among the ladies, as well as their desire together, to keep their bodies as fit as they can. Her ladies have established many close friendships over the years. She enjoys seeing those connections made by meeting for a meal before or after, and just having fun working out, as they get to know each other. She’s seen many achieve better health like recently, when a client who was participating in several therapies for an injury decided to forego other therapies because Curves met all those needs.
