SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Benedictine has no shortage of student-athletes with collegiate potential, and eight more made it official on Wednesday. Two athletes signed for football, five athletes signed for baseball, and one athlete signed for wrestling.
Jacobe Ward – Football, Auburn
Third Scroggins – Football, Miami
Jackson Austin – Baseball, Gordon State
Brooks Bradshaw – Baseball, Emmanuel
Landon Ludwig – Baseball, Davidson
Jack Murphy – Baseball, Saint Vincent
TJ Windsor – Baseball, Belmont Abbey
Zach Krauss – Wrestling, Belmont Abbey
Both Ward and Scroggins announced their commitments to Auburn and Miami, respectively, over the summer and didn’t flip their commitments, now that the calendar has flipped to December.
“I really chose to stay at Auburn because of Coach Freeze and Coach Thornton,” said Ward. “The relationship I have with them is amazing. Coach Freeze, he was the ultimate reason why I chose Auburn because he just gives off that father figure role, so that’s why I went Auburn.”
“My grandma, Helen Scroggins, was a big influence on my life,” said Scroggins. “She always told me academics first and then ball next, so I looked at the academics first and then looked at the ball. The ball there is crazy, and then you have Coach Jason Taylor, who’s going to be coaching me, who’s a Hall of Famer in the NFL and he played the same position as me.”
While at Miami, Scroggins plans to major in mechanical engineering.
