Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain and Memphis Grizzlies guard Jaylen Wells have been named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month for October and November.
McCain became the seventh player in franchise history to win the award and the first since Ben Simmons in March 2018, averaging 16 points, 2.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds on 36.4% shooting from 3-point range in 18 games. He led all first-year players in scoring and was second in 3-pointers (40).
The 16th pick is the only rookie with multiple 30-point games (2), which includes a career-high 34 points and 10 assists on Nov. 13. He joined Hall of Famer Allen Iverson and Simmons as the only three 76er rookies to tally at least 30 points and 10 assists in a game.
Wells is the first Grizzlies rookie to win the award since Ja Morant in the 2019-20 season after averaging 12.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 39.4% shooting from 3-point range in 20 games, including 15 starts. He led all West rookies in scoring and was second among first-year players in 3-point percentage.
The 39th pick is among five rookies with multiple 20-point games (2). He scored a career-high 26 points, six assists and four rebounds on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc on Nov. 23 to become the first rookie in franchise history with at least six 3s and six assists in the same game.
Atlanta Hawks forward Zaccharie Risacher and Washington Wizards players Bub Carrington and Alex Sarr were nominated for the award from the East. Los Angeles Lakers guard Dalton Knecht, San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle and Grizzlies center Zach Edey were among the nominees from the West.
