63-year-old man critically injured after crash in Tradition community

PORT ST. LUCIE — A 63-year-old man was in critical condition Wednesday morning after being thrown from a golf cart during a crash the day before in the Tradition community, according to Port St. Lucie police.
At 7:35 p.m. Tuesday police went to Southwest Town Park Avenue and Southwest Tradition Parkway west of Interstate 95 following reports of a crash involving a car and a golf cart, police stated on social media.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that both a white car and a golf cart were traveling southbound through the gate,” police stated. “At some point, the golf cart tried to merge in front of the car and clipped the front of the car, which caused the golf cart to lose control, then clip the curb, ejecting the driver.”
The driver of the golf cart, a 63-year-old man, was flown to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, police said. Police reported he sustained “serious head trauma.”
Sgt. Dominick Mesiti, police spokesperson, stated Wednesday the man was in critical condition.
