MUNDY TOWNSHIP, MI – Five people have pleaded guilty to their roles in operating an illegal gambling outfit in Mundy Township, the Michigan Gaming Control Board announced.
The illegal gambling operation featured 41 computer gaming stations that offered slot-style gambling at the Hot Spot Skill Arcade, 5542 Fenton Road.
Co-defendants Michael Bixby, of Holly, Jeffrey Ladd, of Ortonville, Victoria Adams, of Flint, Michelle Teall, of Holly and Courtney Thompson, of Fenton, each entered guilty pleas before Judge Mark Latchana in October.
The unlicensed gambling operation would collect personal information and payment from patrons who then earned points redeemable for Visa gift cards, according to MGCB.
“I am pleased to secure these convictions, alongside the Michigan Gaming Control Board, following our joint investigation,” said Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. “This partnership strengthens our efforts to dismantle criminal operations and places of illegal gaming across our state.”
Bixby and Ladd pleaded guilty to one count of conducting a gambling operation without a license, which is a 10-year felony.
Adams, Teall and Thompson each pleaded guilty to one high court misdemeanor of maintaining a gambling house for gain, which is a two-year misdemeanor.
Defendants are due back in court for sentencing on Dec. 2.
