The Seahawks defense is a mess. 

Since holding the Tua Tagovailoa-less Dolphins to three points in Week 3, Seattle has gotten torched by the Lions and Giants, allowing 809 total yards combined in those games. 

The Seahawks’ run defense, in particular, has been awful. 

In Week 3, Detroit’s split backfield of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery combined for 118 rushing yards. 

Last week, with starting running back Devin Singletary out, the Seahawks let the Giants run wild, allowing rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. to run for 129 yards on 18 carries in his first career start.

Their run defense wasn’t exactly stout before this recent tough stretch – the Seahawks allowed 185 rushing yards to the Patriots offense, one of the worst in football, in Week 2.

It’s not getting any easier on Thursday night. 

With a banged-up defense on a short week, the Seahawks will have their hands full with Kyle Shanahan’s offense, which has run for the seventh-most yards per game (144) this season. 

Third-year ball carrier Jordan Mason has played like a star for the 49ers in place of reigning Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey, who is still dealing with Achilles tendinitis. 

Mason is averaging 107.2 yards rushing per game this season, which is the third-most in the NFL. 

Even against this weak defensive front, BetMGM Sportsbook oddsmakers aren’t expecting Mason to get anywhere near that number, pegging his rushing yards over/under at 82.5 (-125).

Mason has eclipsed this number in four of five games this year, falling short during a loss to the Rams in which San Francisco relied on the pass late in an attempt to pull off a comeback.
