What to Know

• The 49ers fall to 6-10 with a tough 40-34 loss to the Lions on Monday night. San Francisco closes out the 2024 NFL season on the road against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
• The Lions improve to 14-2, setting up an epic showdown with the 14-2 Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night with the winner earning the NFC’s No. 1 seed and the loser falling to the No. 5 seed.
• Brock Purdy completed 27 of 35 passes for a career-high 377 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. He also ran the ball three times for 12 yards and a touchdown. The third-year NFL quarterback left the game in the fourth quarter with what Kyle Shanahan deemed to be an elbow injury, noting that Purdy is deal with “nerve stuff.”
• Rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall finished with eight receptions for 141 yards and one touchdown.
• Tight end George Kittle caught eight passes for 112 yards. He surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the second consecutive season and fourth time in his career.
• Kicker Jake Moody struggled again as he missed two long field goal attempts and missed his final extra-point try after making his first four of the night.
