Last season was historic for District 7.
For only the first time in 20 years and the fourth time in the 124-year history of the PIAA boys basketball championships, three WPIAL teams were crowned state champions.
Lincoln Park in Class 4A and Imani Christian is Class A repeated as state champions while Aliquippa continued its golden run in football and basketball with a PIAA Class 2A hoops title.
The other three previous years that District 7 boys won three PIAA titles were in 2004 with Penn Hills in 4A, Moon in 3A and Sto-Rox in 2A; 1995 with Ringgold in 4A, Blackhawk in 3A and Shady Side Academy in 2A; and in 1992 with Blackhawk in 3A, Carlynton in 2A and Duquesne in A.
