Through six weeks of the college football season, stars have emerged through a few big-time performances. This has caught the attention of folks at the next level as they prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft in April.
CBS Sports has released their latest mock draft, projecting all 32 picks of the first round. An impactful trade is in there as well, one that would shake up the entire landscape.
This year might wind up being an offense-heavy class, at least at the top. Of the first 10 selections, all but two (maybe 2.5) are offensive players. You can check out all 32 first-round selections below.
Two players for the price of one? New England certainly could be getting that if they select Hunter with the No. 1 overall pick. Right before Drake Maye makes his first NFL start, CBS Sports projects for a weapon to be added.
Defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington would be quite happy with the selection too, adding a talented cornerback to his room. Hunter is a special prospect and would be a key player in New England’s rebuild.
Michigan has been built up as the best defensive front in college football this season and the NFL Draft should show as such. This mock draft has Graham being the first of two impressive defensive tackles off the board.
Graham would move into the state of Ohio, playing for the Bengals. A tough start to the season in Cincinnati has them projected to be one of the top picks early on.
There will be a battle to wind up as the top offensive tackle in this year’s draft. CBS Sports has Banks winning out, going No. 3 overall to the Jaguars. A new body to protect Trevor Lawrence.
Vince Young was the last Texas player taken inside the top three, dating back to 2006. Banks would certainly be making history for the Longhorns, also being the program’s first first-round offensive lineman since Mike Williams in 2002.
Cleveland gave out one of the most lucrative contracts in NFL history to Deshaun Watson and results have been massively disappointing. There are not many avenues to get out of the deal either, from a financial standpoint.
Even so, Jalen Milroe will be one of the top quarterbacks discussed during draft season. His athletic ability is obvious and he appears to be developing quite well under Kalen DeBoer.
Similar to Banks, Campbell has been protecting the quarterback’s blindside since his freshman season. Not many are able to do that at a high level, especially in the SEC.
Now, one team will have the opportunity to take a player many view as a future long-time left tackle. The Rams are currently the projection after a 1-4 start to the season.
Carolina made their intentions with Bryce Young quite clear, benching him in favor of Andy Dalton. While there are currently no intentions to trade Young, the message of moving forward has been made.
Ward nearly entered the 2024 NFL Draft but has seen his stock soar since arriving at Miami. Continuing to play well for the Hurricanes will only continue to see him rise up boards.
Running back draft values tanked for a few years but Jeanty is a little different. The Boise State running back is the clear best player at the position and would be an instant impact player, no matter which team selects him.
If taken in the top 10, it would mark the second time in three years a running back has been selected there. Bijan Robinson of the Atlanta Falcons was the latest after his similarly electrifying career at Texas.
Johnson has been a star since arriving in Ann Arbor as a true freshman. As Michigan made their national championship run last season, a lot of defensive talent stood out but Johnson received the most praise.
The Dolphins have been hit with injury after injury this season, and the wins haven’t come as expected. If they pick in the top ten, coming away with an impact defender like Johnson would be a nice consolation.
Wide receiver has become such a valuable position in the NFL, seeing plenty drafted inside the top 10 in recent years. McMillan has a chance to be the latest and potentially play with one of the game’s greatest, Aaron Rodgers (or maybe a fellow rookie?)
Some of the numbers McMillan has already put up are insane. Through five games, McMillan has caught 36 passes for 664 yards (averaging 17.9 yards per reception) and four touchdowns. Every team in the NFL would like that kind of production.
Coach Prime has been vocal, saying he will make sure his son ends up in a good situation — similar to what Eli Manning did back in the day. No official list has been provided but there is no doubt the talent will be there for teams to be interested.
Las Vegas is already on their second quarterback of the season, not having a franchise guy to move forward with. Sanders would fix their problems and give them an instant boost at the position — on and off the field.
