One of the top basketball talents in the state is staying home.
Central-Phenix City standout Jacoby Hill has committed to Jacksonville State, he announced Saturday morning.
Last season as a junior, Hill averaged 23.2 points, 6 rebounds and 5.5 assists, also adding on 54 blocks and 84 steals for the Red Devils.
He was named a first team all-state guard by the Alabama Sports Writers Association in both 2023 and 2024.
247Sports lists Hill as the state’s fourth-ranked 2025 basketball player and a three-star prospect, with the guard picking Jax State over offers that include Alabama, UAB, Mississippi State and Oregon, according to his recruiting page.
Last season, Central-Phenix City advanced to the Class 7A Final Four before falling to eventual state champion Hoover; in the Class 7A Central Regional final, he totaled 30 points and nine rebounds in a 62-60 win over Auburn.
In 2023, he scored 32 points against Spain Park in the team’s Class 7A state semifinal game and 37 points in the Class 7A title game against eventual state champion Hoover.
Jax State finished last season 14-18 overall and 6-10 in Conference USA play, falling to Florida International in the first round of the CUSA tournament.
