The 2024 Tour Championship, the grand finale of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, has arrived, and we’re picking a long shot who was one of the runners-up at last week’s BMW Championship. Here’s our long-shot pick, the Tour Championship odds, betting favorites and everything else you need to know.
For this week’s season-ender in Atlanta, we’re selecting Adam Scott, who comes in with +6600 odds-to-win, as our long shot to come from behind and claim the FedEx Cup.
Why does Scott have to come from behind? At the Tour Championship, players receive starting scores based on their FedEx Cup ranking, with No. 1 Scottie Scheffler receiving the best help and starting at 10 under. Scott, on the other hand, is in 14th place and will begin the tournament at three under, seven shots behind Scheffler.
But Scott earned that 14th position last week when he came close to winning the BMW Championship, eventually settling for T2 finish.
If you bet $10 on Scott to capture the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup title and he comes through, you’ll earn $660.
Looking for more long-shot bets for the Tour Championship? This week’s honorable mentions are Viktor Hovland (+6600) and Tony Finau (+6600).
The betting favorites for East Lake are similar to those at the BMW, but their odds have improved thanks to their starting scores. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler leads the way with +110 odds-to-win. Xander Schauffele comes in right behind Scheffler at +240, and Hideki Matsuyama starts in third with +1000 odds-to-win.
