After two rounds at a treacherous Royal Troon, only 10 players are in red numbers, and a former Open champion stands alone atop the leaderboard.

Shane Lowry, winner of the 2019 Open, fought off a wayward double bogey to shoot a two-under 69. That left him at seven under with a two-shot lead heading into the weekend

His closest chasers with 36 holes left to play are Justin Rose and Daniel Brown at five under, but Scottie Scheffler lurks at two under. The action continues on Saturday morning.
