Former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama of Japan jumped out to the early lead at the 2024 men’s Olympic Golf event with an impressive eight-under 63.
That gives Matsuyama, who lost in a playoff for the bronze medal at the Tokyo Games, a two-shot lead heading into Round 2. But the man in second is defending gold medalist Xander Schauffele.
Matsuyama tees off for Friday’s second round at Le Golf National at 5:44 a.m. ET alongside Wyndham Clark and Tommy Fleetwood.
You can watch Friday’s second round of the men’s Olympic Golf event on Golf Channel starting at 3 a.m. ET. Peacock will offer a live simulcast of Golf Channel’s Friday coverage online.
