The 2024-25 NBA Schedule comes to the dog days of the offseason like a mirage in the desert. San Antonio Spurs fans thirsty for just a bit of news can rest easy knowing they can pour over the schedule for the next week or so to hold them over (or is that just me?) On Thursday, we got the full scope of what the Spurs 2024-25 season has in store for them.
The Spurs will kick its season off on the road against the Western Conference Champion Dallas Mavericks on October 24th. It will be the first of the Spurs’ 21 nationally televised games next season, up from 19 last year. Fans will recall San Antonio hosting the Mavericks on opening night last season, which was broadcast on ESPN.
It’ll be a Texas-heavy start to the season for the Spurs, as they’ll host the Houston Rockets for a two-game home stand following the Dallas opener. Three of San Antonio’s four games against Houston will come in the season’s first eight games.
The Spurs will play a few notable “neutral site” games next season. I use quotation marks because they might as well be home games, they just don’t take place in San Antonio. Victor Wembanyama will return to France for a double-header against the Indiana Pacers in Paris, France on January 23rd and 25th. Shortly after, the Spurs will play in Austin for the third-straight season, hosting the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons on February 20th and 21st. Kevin Durant’s return to UT will be a major story for the Suns.
The rodeo road trip won’t be so far from home this season. San Antonio will start the 12-game trip away from home on February 3rd, play six games on the road, return to Austin for their two games at the Moody Center, and then finish with four more road contests.
One stretch of the schedule to watch is the final ten games of the season. If San Antonio plans to contend for the Play-In Tournament or Playoffs, they’ll likely need to have a strong finish to the season. The Spurs play seven of its last ten games on the road and face tough opponents like the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors.
