The Wilkes Sheriff’s Office arrested two men Wednesday morning on charges of operating video gaming machines at the Millers Creek business where they were working.
Arrested were Ishagh Hadad, 31, and Sadam El Vagha, 34, both of Millers Creek.
A sheriff’s office press release said the arrests were made and Millers Creek Market at 5410 Boone Trail in Millers Creek was shut down as result of an investigation of illegal gaming machines at the business.
Sheriff’s office and N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement officers conducted the investigation and went to the business Wednesday morning with a search warrant. Hadad and El Vagha were arrested at the business. The investigation resulted from complaints from citizens.
Hadad and El Vagha were charged with one count each of manufacture sell slot machine, operating five or more video gaming machines and gambling. Both are in the Wilkes County Jail with secured bonds of $100,000.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has detainers on Hadad and El Vagha for illegally being in the United States, said a sheriff’s office spokesman.
Millers Creek Market is at the intersection of Boone Trail and Old Highway 60, near N.C. 16 North. The property is listed in records as being owned by Ash-Wilkes Properties LLC, with Obama Alshayef as registered agent and the same address as Millers Creek Market.
