WINTHROP, Iowa (KCRG) – At least 18 golf carts were damaged or destroyed in a fire at Buffalo Creek County Club on Thursday.
The Independence and Aurora Fire Departments were called to help Winthrop Fire respond to the fire at 1925 Slater Avenue at around 6 a.m.
The fire was found at a shed housing the golf carts. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from it.
Firefighters said they arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the shed, but they were able to quickly contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to other nearby structures.
Fire crews were at the scene for about two hours. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
