HAZLEHURST, Miss. (WLBT) – A man is dead after he was shot multiple times at a basketball court in Hazlehurst.
According to Hazlehurst Police Department Assistant Chief Tarrell Davis, the deadly incident happened around 7 p.m. Monday at the Hazlehurst Softball Complex basketball court.
When officers arrived at the scene, 23-year-old Jaylen Larry was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
Larry was taken by ambulance to the Copiah County Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
It was later determined that the shooting occurred due to an altercation with 17-year-old Jeremiah Wilson, the suspect.
Wilson turned himself into law enforcement in Brookhaven and has since been charged with murder.
