SAN ANTONIO – A 12-year-old Paralympic athlete from San Antonio will be featured in the newest special edition of Sports Illustrated.
Noelani Spicer is one of 10 young athletes to be profiled in the first “Sports reIllustrated,” a special edition that highlights young female athletes “breaking barriers to compete on their own terms,” according to a news release.
Spicer has broken national records and won eight gold medals in various events, including track and field, javelin and archery.
Her dad, Greg Spicer, told SA Live in September that his daughter has been doing track since she was five years old.

Her goal is to one day make it to the Paralympics, Noelani Spicer told SA Live.
In her September interview, Noelani Spicer encouraged other young athletes doing adaptive sports to “keep trying.”
“You can do whatever you can,” Spicer said.
The special edition will be released by Sports Illustrated in partnership with Dove.
“By re-illustrating what it looks like to be an athlete, we hope we can inspire readers to rethink how we see and support the young athletes in our lives,” said Sports Illustrated Editor in Chief Stephen Cannella, in part.
The “Sports reIllustrated” special edition will be available online on Feb. 3 and will run as a special section in the magazine’s March issue. The edition will also be distributed in New Orleans ahead of Super Bowl LIX.
