Team USA’s men’s golf roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics highlights the significant role of NCAA programs in nurturing and developing top-tier athletes. Every member of the team is either a current or former NCAA student-athlete, showcasing the strong link between collegiate sports and Olympic success. This talented group of golfers brings a wealth of experience and numerous collegiate accolades to the international stage.
Clark was the 2017 Pac-12 Player of the Year and a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award, the most prestigious college golf award. Morikawa had five wins and was the Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Year in his final year, finishing in the top 10 in both the 2016 and 2019 NCAA championships. Schauffele achieved 21 top-10 finishes and set a school record with a 71.50 scoring average at San Diego State. Scheffler was a standout for the Longhorns, making the 2018 Big 12 Tournament Team and earning multiple All-America honors, as well as the 2015 Phil Mickelson Award as freshman of the year.
Scheffler and Clark are making their first Olympic appearances, while Schauffele brings valuable experience as the reigning Olympic gold medalist from the 2020 Tokyo Games. Morikawa also returns as an Olympian after finishing just off the podium in Tokyo with a fourth-place performance. All four are decorated professionals. Since turning pro, Scheffler has won 12 PGA Tour events, including the 2022 and 2024 Masters. Clark claimed his first major victory at the 2023 U.S. Open after winning the Wells Fargo Championship earlier that year. Schauffele has secured nine PGA Tour wins, including major victories at the 2024 PGA Championship and The Open Championship. Morikawa, who turned professional in 2019, quickly won the 2020 PGA Championship and the 2021 Open Championship. He currently has six PGA Tour wins.
