Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his choreographer-influencer wife Dhanashree Verma have reportedly finalized their divorce and were supposed to appear before the court at 4 pm IST on Thursday (December 20).
According to ABP News, the couple has been summoned before the family court in Bandra, Mumbai, where they are expected to complete the final proceedings, after which they’ll get their official divorce certificate. The report cited further media coverage and a lawyer source to say that the decision to part ways was made through mutual consent.
The rumors of discord in their marriage have been circulating for the last few weeks, though without any official confirmation from either the cricketer or the influencer. Reportage started to go viral on social media when the duo unfollowed each other on Instagram and joint activity was limited.
Interestingly, both celebrities took to their Instagram to put cryptic messages on their respective stories on Thursday.
“God has protected me more times than I can count. So I can only image the times I’ve been rescued that I don’t even know about. Thank you, god for always being there even when I don’t know it. Amen,” Chahal wrote.
Dhanashree said, “From stressed to blessed. Isn’t amazing how God can turn our worries and trials to blessings? If you’re stressing about something today, know that you have a choice. You can either keep worrying or you can surrender it all to God and choose to pray about everything. There is power in having faith that God can work all things together for your good.”
Chahal has been out of international action since 2023 when he fell out of favor with the national selectors after a phase of bad form. The leg-spinner played a few first-class and List-A matches last year and will now be back in the limelight when he features for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming IPL 2025 season, having signed for an auction price of a whopping Rs. 18 crore.
“I was very nervous. I had anxiety because whatever I was getting for the last three years, put together, I was getting it in one year. But, I think I deserve that. I am very excited,” he had said after the event.
