Xavier Worthy, a native of Fresno, California, signed with Texas over offers that included Michigan, Oregon and more, per 247Sports.
Worthy was a two-sport athlete in football and track at Central East High School. On the gridiron, he was a four-star wide receiver. Worthy was a top-70 player in the country, the No. 8 wide receiver in the class of 2021 and the No. 4 player in California behind Korey Foreman, Troy Franklin and Raesjon Davis.
Worthy’s senior season was cancelled due to COVID-19, but as a junior he led Central East to its first-ever CIF Division 1-AA state championship after a 15-0 season where he caught 55 passes for 992 yards and 16 touchdowns. On the track, Worthy PR’d in the 100 meters as a sophomore in 10.55 seconds.
Worthy and Texas finished a combined 25-14 during his career, winning the Big 12 title and advancing to the College Football Playoff during his final season.
