This week’s WTA Guangzhou Open has been filled with upsets, with only one seeded player among the last four, albeit that is the top seed. With that in mind, all four players left will be plenty confident of hoisting the trophy on Sunday and give it their all. The semifinals are sure to be very exciting and high quality affairs, with the fact that these will be two first time matchups making things even more interesting and unpredictable.
Head-to-head: first meeting
Both players have had amazing runs this week. Lucia Bronzetti has dominated all week, not dropping a single set en route to the semfinals, while Caroline Dolehide has played two tough three setters to overcome much higher ranked opponents. It is possible that fatigue might play a part given that, but if she can maintain the level she has been displaying she definitely has a great chance here. The lack of previous matchups between the pair make this one an even more unpredictable match, one that should be extremely tight and come down to a few deciding points.
Prediction: Dolehide in 3

Head-to-head: first meeting
Katerina Siniakova is the top seed at the WTA Guangzhou Open and much higher ranked player of the two, but Olga Danilovic has been steadily rising up the rankings and is on an eight match winning streak. Indeed, the Serbian has been playing some great tennis all week here. It is a much closer matchup than rankings would suggest, with very little to separate both players based in quality and form. If Danilovic can maintain the level she has been showing this week so far, she might even have a slight edge. The lack of previous matchups between the pair means that the specific matchup dynamics are very difficult to anticipate, but in terms of current level there is almost nothing between them.
Prediction:Danilovic in 3
