Aussie golf legend Steve Elkington spoke for many of her fans when he replied: ‘not sure which is more photogenic.. you or RM.’
Last year the American claimed that some of her outfits ‘really rub people up the wrong way.’
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, she explained why her background competing as a gymnast has an impact on what she chooses to wear both on the golf course and in her day-to-day.
‘I was a gymnast before I switched to golf,’ she said.
‘I was so comfortable wearing spandex and very little of it because that’s just what you wear when you’re wearing a leotard and you’re competing.’
She added that she had been ‘struggling a little bit financially’ and ‘did not have the luxury to go out and buy a whole new golf-appropriate wardrobe.’
Instead, she says she wore what she already had – her workout clothes and subsequently learned how to play the sport.
But Spiranac was left bewildered as to why other players did not wear their comfort clothes more often.
The golf influencer has amassed millions of followers since leaving her pro career behind

‘That was always my mindset when I got into golf, and it really rubs people the wrong way which is shocking,’ Spiranac added.
‘They’ll have really intense discussions over if they should wear shorts or pants or a blade collar or a real collar and I’m just out here just in tank tops or spandex and people are like ”What are you doing?”’ But I love it.’
While PGA Tour players are not allowed to wear shorts during competitive rounds, LIV Golf has taken the step to allow its stars to wear shorts.
‘We are starting to see that change and fashion is a big part of growing the game and it’s moving in the right direction,’ Spirinac said.
She told the Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams that some people can often feel intimidated about playing golf due to its stuffy and often traditional values.
‘I think that a lot of people are scared to get into the game of golf because it can be very stuffy and it can be not very welcoming at times,’
‘Because you’re so scared about “what am I wearing, what am I doing, am I gonna – you know – upset a member at a country club or all of these things”.’
In recent months, Spiranac has been linked to making an appearaance in Happy Gilmore Two, after Adam Sandler has recently got the ball rolling on a sequel for his iconic 1996 film.
Travis Kelce has also been promised a cameo role in the hugely anticipated sequel.
