In his first breeze since the Breeders’ Cup, 5-year-old Carl Spackler turned in a bullet workout Sunday morning in Florida.
The Lope De Vega entire owned by e5 Racing Thoroughbreds
went three furlongs in 37.0 seconds, the fastest of 14 workouts covering that
distance on the fast dirt at Payson Park. It was his first timed drill since he
finished sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, snapping a three-race winning streak
that included two Grade 1s.
Trainer Chad Brown has not said publicly where and when Carl
Spackler might make his 2025 debut.
