Thorpedo Anna continued preparations for her 2025 debut on Saturday, working four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Fair Grounds ahead of a possible start in the Grade 2, $400,000 Azeri Stakes on March 8 at Oaklawn.
The work, the 57th fastest of 126 at the distance, was the 2024 Eclipse Award Horse of the Year’s first timed work at the Fair Grounds after recording two at Gulfstream Park as she began to be readied for her first start since her win in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Del Mar on Nov. 2.
Trainer Kenny McPeek told Daily Racing Form this week that he plans to continue training at Fair Grounds through her final workout for the Azeri and then ship the 4-year-old daughter of Fast Anna to Oaklawn shortly before the race.
