Continuing his work for next month’s Group 1, US$3.3 million Hong Kong Sprint, 5-year-old gelding Nobals turned in a workout Wednesday morning on Turfway Park synthetic track.
Trained by Larry Rivelli for Patricia’s Hope, Nobals breezed
a half-mile in 48.2 seconds. It was his
first timed work since he won the Kennedy Road (G2) on Nov. 16 at Woodbine. That was the first victory for Nobals since the 2023 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.
There were nine graded-stakes winners on Wednesday’s work
tab following just one Tuesday.
Wednesday
Nobals (Noble Mission), a Grade 1 winner (2023
Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint), worked four furlongs in 48.2 seconds at Turfway
Park on Wednesday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 71 works at the distance.
This was his first work since his last race. In his last start, he won the
Kennedy Road (G2) going six furlongs on the synthetic at Woodbine on Nov. 16
for trainer Larry Rivelli.
Can Group (Good Samaritan), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Bourbon), worked
four furlongs in 47.4 seconds at Palm Meadows. It was the fastest of 20 works
at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going five furlongs at Palm
Meadows. In his last start, he placed ninth in the Audubon going 1 1/8 miles on
the turf at Churchill Downs on June 1 for trainer Mark Casse.
Hoosier Philly (Into Mischief), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Golden Rod),
worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Fair Grounds. It was the 10th fastest of 26
works at the distance. Her previous work was 13 days ago going four furlongs at
Fair Grounds. In her last start, she placed seventh in the Locust Grove (G2)
going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Sept. 14 for trainer
Tom Amoss.
One Timer (Trappe Shot), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Franklin-Simpson),
worked five furlongs in 1:01.0 at Fair Grounds. It was the seventh fastest of
26 works at the distance. His previous work was 12 days ago going four furlongs
at Fair Grounds. In his last start, he placed fifth in the Woodford (G2) going
5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 5 for Rivelli.
Seal Team (War Front), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Twilight Derby),
worked three furlongs in 37.4 seconds at Del Mar. It was the slowest of three
works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going six furlongs at
Del Mar. In his last start, he placed fifth in the Lure going one mile on the
turf at Santa Anita on Oct. 19 for trainer Richard Mandella.
Señor Buscador (Mineshaft), a Grade 2 winner (2023 San Diego
Handicap), worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 at Zia Park. It was the fastest of
nine works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going five
furlongs at Zia Park. In his last start, he placed fifth in the Breeders’ Cup
Classic going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 2 for trainer
Todd Fincher.
Liberal Arts (Arrogate), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Street Sense),
worked four furlongs in 48.2 seconds at Churchill Downs. It was the 14th
fastest of 49 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last
race. In his last start, he won an allowance race going 7 1/2 furlongs on the
main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 6 for trainer Brad Cox.
Life’s an Audible (Audible), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Sweetest
Chant), worked four furlongs in 50.5 seconds at Gulfstream Park. It was the
19th fastest of 25 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago
going four furlongs at Gulfstream Park. In her last start, she placed second in
the Herecomesthebride (G3) going one mile on the turf at Gulfstream Park on
March 2 for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Senbei (Candy Ride), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Belmont Turf Sprint),
worked four furlongs in 48.7 seconds at Belmont Park. It was the seventh
fastest of 49 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last
race. In his last start, he placed eighth in the Aqueduct Turf Sprint
Championship going six furlongs on the turf at Aqueduct on Nov. 9 for trainer
Christophe Clément.
Tuesday
Atone (Into Mischief), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Pegasus
World Cup Turf Invitational), worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Churchill
Downs on Tuesday morning. It was the third fastest of five works at the
distance. His previous work was nine days ago going three furlongs at Churchill
Downs. In his last start, he placed sixth in a handicap going one mile on the
turf at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 1 for trainer Mike Maker.
