Hoist the Gold, winner of two graded stakes in 2023 but 0-for-5 since, is back in training for Dallas Stewart.
The 6-year-old son of Mineshaft worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 Wednesday morning at Fair Grounds, third fastest of nine at the distance.
Hoist the Gold won the Phoenix (G2) and Cigar Mile (G2) in 2023, then was fourth in the Pegasus world Cup Invitational (G1) and 14th in the Saudi Cup (G1) to start 2024. He was fifth in the Churchill Downs (G1) and third in the Met Mile (G1) before finishing third in the listed Kelly’s Landing at Churchill Downs on June 29, his most recent start.
He returned to the tab in December and has been working steadily at Fair Grounds since.
