CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – Hoops was the theme through pretty much all of the Heartland Friday night, with several basketball tournaments ongoing.
In Cape Girardeau, the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament continued, with consolation and quarterfinal action.
Leading the excitement, Woodland and Scott City both grabbed upsets, the Cardinals winning a barn-burner over Charleston to stun the Blue Jays.
West of Cape Girardeau, the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament held it’s consolation bracket and winner’s quarterfinals, with drama across all four contests. Two contests however, went down to the final play, with Bernie and Dexter surviving at the final moments to book semifinal spots.
Also, in Twin Rivers, the Lady Royals Christmas Tournament held its semifinals with Doniphan and Portageville advancing to Saturday’s championship.
