AUGUSTA, GA. – The Augusta women’s golf team will start their spring season in Orlando, Florida at the PDI Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Central Florida. The tournament features 18 holes each of the three days, Feb. 2-4.
Among the teams competing are the University of North Carolina, Duke University, Baylor and Indiana, as the Jaguars will be put to the test.
In the fall, AU’s best finish was seventh at the Lady Paladin in Greenville, S.C. That tournament was highlighted by Keira Gonzalez-McCarthy winning medalist honors.
Coach Ember Holloway’s team features all underclassmen with three sophomores and three freshmen who are having to go toe-to-toe with some of the top teams in the country on a weekly basis.
Between the fall and spring seasons, Zoe Pinillos competed in her home country of Peru in the Women’s Amateur Latin America Championship and finished in 31st place.
Sophomore Sara Adams is coming off a 10th place finish at the Lady Bulldog Classic hosted by the University of Georgia.
Following next week’s tournament, the Jaguars will compete in the Moon Golf Invitational in Louisivlle, Ky, then they return to the Garden City for the annual Valspar Auguta Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club.
The season culminates in April as the Jaguars defend their Southland Conference Championship title in San Antonio, Texas.
