PEORIA, Ariz. – The Sam Houston women’s golf team kick off their first tournament of the spring at the 2025 Westbrook Invitational, beginning Sunday, February 23 at Westbrook Village Golf Course on the Vistas course.
The event, hosted by Wisconsin, will consist of 54 holes playing in threesomes with 36 holes on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday.
The course won Golfers’ Choice Golf Pass in 2023 with top 25 in pace of play, course layout, and course conditions and was named one of the top 25 Arizona courses in 2024. It features desert transition areas, well-protected greens, water shots, and driveable par-4s.
This par 72, 6,248-yard tournament has been played since 2012. The Bearkats have competed in this event for the first-time last year tying for tenth with Missouri. The Kats have tough competition with this 14-team field, which includes defending tournament champions Kansas.
Live Scoring will be via Scoreboard by Clippd with updating scores throughout the round as well as results at the end of each day.
Last year, the Kats tied for tenth with Missouri with 16 under. Jenn David and Jennifer Herbst led the team tying for 18th with 7 under on the tournament. David shot 67-71-71 with 41 pars and Herbst shot 68-73-68 with a -7 scoring on Par-5s. Grace Lin shot 71-71-76 with only +5 in her second tournament as a Bearkat.
Grace Lin is looking to lead the Kats into the tournament coming off her seventh-place tie and being named CUSA golf of the Week at The Ally to close the fall slate. Lin has done exceptionally well alongside teammates, Amelia Guo and Gracie Heinle who helped the Kats place 6th against a packed SEC field in their last appearance.
The Bearkats have placed top ten in each of their four tournaments including titles at Bearkat Invitational and the runner up at the Badger Invitational in the fall.
