ABILENE — The Wildcats officially unveiled their 2024-25 schedule on Friday, including five appearances in tournaments hosted by Power 4 conference schools, the program’s first-ever home tournament and a trip to Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona, for the WAC Championship.
“We are excited to play a big-time schedule this season,” said head coach Rob Bennett, “After bursting on the scene last year we caught the eye of many different coaches from around the country and that opened up opportunities for us to play against some of the best teams in college golf on a regular basis. We believe these are the types of fields that we belong in and that we will be able to compete well against such strong fields.”
The Wildcats begin their second season in program history on September 2 as they head to West Lafayette, Indiana, playing in the Boilermaker Classic hosted by Purdue, with the tournament lasting through September 3. Then, ACU heads to Lubbock for the Red Raider Invitational hosted by Texas Tech at Rawls Course on September 24-25.
To finish out the fall portion of the schedule, the Wildcats will play two tournaments In October. First, on October 14-15, the Wildcats will participate in the Dale McNamara Invitational at Cedar Ridge Country Club in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, with the tournament being hosted by Tulsa. Finally, the ‘Cats head to the Bahamas for Texas A&M’s White Sands Invitational at the Ocean Club Golf Course from October 18-20.
ACU begins the spring half of their season on February 11-12 at the BGSU Women’s Intercollegiate. The tournament hosted by Bowling Green will take place at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona, the same course where the WAC Championship will be played in April.
Up next, the Wildcats will host their first tournament in the program’s young history. The West Texas Classic will take place on March 3-4 and will play the tournament at the Abilene Country Club North Course.
“We are looking forward to hosting schools from all over the nation here in Abilene and for the opportunity to play in front of our fans here at home,” Bennett said. “It isn’t common for a team to host a home tournament, so we are really excited to be able to represent ACU in this way and hope that Wildcat fans will turn out in droves wearing their purple to cheer us on to victory.”
Following the West Texas Classic, the Wildcats will play in three more tournaments in March. First, they stay in Texas and head to Sugarland for Houston Christian’s Riverbend Intercollegiate from March 10-11 at the Riverbend Country Club. The ‘Cats then head to Tallassee, Florida for the Florida State Match Up at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club on March 21-23. The program will wrap up March in Phoenix, Arizona, at the Papago Golf Club for Arizona State’s PING/ASU Invitational.
ACU’s final regular season tournament will be on April 7-8 at the “Mo” Morial Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M, in Bryan, Texas at the Traditions Club.
The WAC Championship, this year located at the Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona, with hopes to make the NCAA tournament. Last year, the Wildcats finished second as a team and produced the tournament individual champion, Ryann Honea, who played in the NCAA Regional in Bryan last season
If the Wildcats qualify for postseason play, the NCAA Regionals will take place May 5-7, and the NCAA Championship will be March 16-18 at California Omni La Costa Resort & Spa’s Champions Course in Carlsbad, California.
