MALIBU, Calif. – After back-to-back seasons of making the NCAA Championship Finals, the Pepperdine women’s golf team will enter the 2024-25 campaign ranked #17 in the Golfweek national rankings.
“The Waves are ready to start the season after three weeks of classes and team practice,” said head coach Laurie Gibbs. “Our goal is to win the WCC Championship and return to match play at the 2025 NCAA Championships. We have a great group of players that are focused on winning while enjoying being on a team together. Go Waves!”
Senior Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) has won two West Coast Conference Championships as an individual and been a part of three-straight WCC Championships. Pepperdine made match play and finished fifth at the 2023 NCAA Championships and Gomez led the team at the same tournament last season. Gomez boasts a 73.41 career scoring average at Pepperdine, which currently ranks fourth in the Pepperdine women’s golf record books all-time.
Junior Jeneath Wong (Melbourne, Australia) was selected as an All-American her first two seasons in the blue and orange. Her first collegiate win happened last season at the Silicon Valley Classic with a score of 7-under 206. Her career scoring average currently leads the program records at the 72.58 mark. So far in 2024, Wong has finished in the top-13 in 10 of her 11 tournaments played. For the 2024-25 season, she is on the Annika Award watch list and garnered the Preseason All-American third team nod from Golfweek. She is also ranked #33 in the Golf Channel preseason rankings.
Senior KaYee Kwok (Tianjin, China) is excited about contributing to the team in her final year, while junior Yingzhi Zhu (Nanjing, China) is playing her best golf and ready for a breakout season. The Waves have three talented freshmen that will immediately contribute to the team’s success. Nishna Patel (Mumbai, India) and Grace Anderson (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) will be in the lineup for the first tournament at New Mexico and Eunseo Choi (Auckland, New Zealand), ranked #85 in the world amateur rankings, will join the team in January.
The Waves will begin the 2024-25 season in Albuquerque, N.M. at the Branch Law Firm Dick McGuire Invitational on September 9-10.
