ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Belmont University women’s golf team is picked fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Preseason Poll as announced by the conference office on Friday morning.
In a vote by the league’s head coaches, Illinois State was picked first as they earned 11 first-place votes to finish with 143 points. The Redbirds finished ahead of Missouri State (127) and Bradley (114). Drake was tabbed fourth (98), with the Bruins in fifth (95), who picked up the remaining first-place vote.
Murray State was selected sixth (86), followed by Evansville (70), UNI (54), UIC (49), Southern Illinois (47), Indiana State (40), and Valparaiso (13).
The league’s spring season culminates at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, April 13-15, at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Ill. The winner will represent the Conference in the NCAA Championship. This is the third consecutive year Annbriar will host the championship.
The women’s golf team wrapped up their fall season last month. In four events, they posted three top-six finishes. They will kick off the spring season on March 3-4 at the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate in Alabama.
