ORLANDO, Fla. – The first day back on the course for the spring season saw the Central Arkansas women’s golf team compete in the PDI Intercollegiate hosted by UCF. Through 18 holes, the Bears have a top-15 golfer in Emma Leroy Fabry, who got off to a hot start on day one.
Fabry started off fast, scoring birdies on five of the first nine holes to climb as high as third place. She settled into 15th after playing her way to a first-round score of 2-under 70. Camila Negroni and Gudrun Thorsteinsdottir finished the day tied at 72. Negroni put in five birdies on the day, two on the front and three on the back nine. Thorsteinsdottir played the role of the super-consistent Bear, scoring one hole over par, but matching it with a birdie, the other 16 holes were all par. Valeria Ramirez played her way to a 4-over 76, tallying three birdies on the day. Ayami Takahashi finished the first day a few strokes back of Ramirez, capping the day at an 8-over 80.
Baylor leads the pack after one round, 11 strokes under par through 18 holes. Duke is three strokes back of the leader, and USF is a stroke behind the Blue Devils. USF’s Cherry Marley leads the individual leaderboard with a 7-under 65, followed by Kansas’ Lauren Clark at a 66 and a two-way tie for third between Tulsa’s Sydney Seigel and Nebraska’s Miu Takahashi.
The Bears are back on the course Monday and Tuesday, playing a round on each day to continue the PDI Intercollegiate. For complete stats and standings, visit the Tournament Page.
