Stonehill finished off the three rounds over two days with a 312-team score, marking the third-lowest single day team score in program history, for a ninth place team finish at 959 (329-318-312) – three strokes shy of the program’s lowest three-round tournament score (956) at the Northeast Conference Championships last spring. Sophomore Carol Pignato finished 21st overall after her third-straight round in the 70s posting a score of 79 today for a three-round score of 234 (78-77-79). She added three more birdies on the par-4 second, fifth and tenth holes today to finish her three rounds with ten birdies overall. Pignato was as high as ninth place on the leaderboard, playing the first five holes of her back nine (course front), but three-straight bogeys saw her dip to her final position in the strong field.
Stonehill carded 13 birdies in all as a team today, with all five Skyhawks having at least two, including three from DeBoise in her team-low round on the fifth, par-5 ninth and par-4 11th. Sophomore Helen Brodahl also recorded a trio of birdies today on the par-4 third and par-5 12th and 18th holes, for a season-best final round 77 to move five spots up the final leaderboard to 32nd at 238 (82-79-77).
Host Boston College (287-300-296=883) took the team title, extending its lead over second place Quinnipiac University (315-303-311=929) to 46 shots. Boston University (309-316-305=930) moved up two spots in the team standings as well to finish third. Stonehill’s 312 team score today allowed the Skyhawks to moved past Siena University (318-325-320=963) and fellow NEC member LIU (327-319-319=965) – only four strokes shy of eighth place UAlbany (318-317-320=955).
BC swept the top three spots on the individual leaderboard on its way to the team title, led by medalist Cynthia Zhang with a three-over-par score of 219 (68-75-76) after her four-over 76 today. Teammate Angel Lin was just a stroke behind at four-over-par 220 (72-76-72) after an even par round, while fellow Eagle Emily Boehrer followed in third at seven-over-par (69-73-81=223).
