LEMONT, Ill. – The NMU women’s golf team faced a competitive field at the Flyer Fall Intercollegiate. The Wildcats finished in 8th place out of 10 teams.
Held at the Cog Hill Golf and Country Club course #2, the Ravines, the course played slightly easier today, averaging a score of 84.17 through 54 recorded rounds.
“It was a hard fought day for both teams today,” says head coach Ben Johnson, who oversaw both the men’s and women’s teams while they competed in the tournament. “I was proud of our teams attitude, and am looking forward to the GLIAC preview this coming weekend.”
Hailey Bolander led the way for the ‘Cats, placing 35th individually after a score of 82 (+10) today. Starting on hole 14, Bolander achieved a front nine of 41 and back nine of 41, with a lone birdie coming on hole nine.
Maddy Martens had the best second day for led the ‘Cats with a total score of 81( +9), finishing in 31st place individually. After starting on 13, Martens carded a 41 for the front nine and 40 for back nine with 12 pars.
Abbie Pietila carded a score of 86 (+14) finishing in 38th individually, with two birdies on holes one and six.
Maggie Pietila ended the tournament in 38th individually with a round two score of 86 (+14) as well, recording a front nine of 44 and back nine of 42, featuring a birdie hole on hole 11.
Payton Dube rounded out the team, finishing in 47th individually with a round two score of 89 (+17).
Gabriella Moreau finished 53rd as an individual.
