EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Gustavus women’s golf team set out for the weekend with the hopes of defending their title at the UW-Eau Claire Georgianni Invite. After round one, the Gusties will need one final push to maintain their status as champions, as the team currently sits in second place, just four shots out from UW-La Crosse in first.
Lauren Hubbart (Jr., Hastings) is leading the charge for the Gusties, as the junior carded a 10-over 82 through round one, just one shot out of first place. Hubbart is tied for third and carded a birdie in her first round. Jenna Piepkorn (Jr., Plymouth) is next for the Gusties, sitting in sixth with an 84.
Both Riley Zebroski (So., Watertown, S.D.) and Emily Kolb (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) are tied for 12th with an 88. Kolb carded a pair of three-shot birdies, while Zebroski added one of her own as well. Kenna Henriksen (Fy., Olivia) rounded out the Gustie top-five with a 104 on Saturday. Mary Kate Hewitt (So., Edina) competing as an individual, is one shot over Henriksen in 27th with a 105.
The Gusties will chase down UW-La Crosse for the victory at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club in Altoona, Wis. tomorrow.
