Stonehill holds a two-shot lead over both Bucknell University and Purdue University-Fort Wayne after posting a 315 team score today, led by Brodahl’s one-over-par 73 to carry the individual lead into Tuesday’s second and final round. Sophomore Carol Pignato joins Brodahl in the top ten with a sub-80 round after shooting a six-over-par 78, while all five golfers in the Skyhawks lineup are in the top half of the 56-player leaderboard after the first round. In fact, a further testament to the strong play of the team is junior Caitlin Anderson, competing as an individual, giving Stonehill six scores today in the 80s or better.
Stonehill’s 315 team score is the second lowest of the season for the Skyhawks after their third-round 312 at the Red Bandanna Intercollegiate last month. Bucknell (317) and Purdue-Fort Wayne (317) are tied for second just two strokes behind Stonehill, while Mount Saint Mary’s University is fourth (319) and Monmouth University fifth (323) in the 11-team field.
Brodahl produced a textbook consistent round for her 73 today, which matches her own program record low round relative to par – two strokes behind her record low 71 (+1) in earning the first medalist finish of her collegiate career at the single round Skyhawks Senior Showdown in April. She carded two birdies on the par-5 sixth hole and par-4 17th during her round, to go with three bogeys and 12 pars. Brodahl made the turn at even par (37) and was still even after her birdie on the 17th offset a bogey on the par-5 11th, before adding her last bogey of the round on the par-4 18th to complete the back nine in 36 shots.
Pignato is tied for eighth after her opening round 78 (+6) that included a birdie on the par-4 fourth hole and 11 pars. Freshman Zoe Miller matched her season-low with an 81 (+9) and is tied for 17th overall, while junior Jaelyn DeBoise and sophomore Kenna Roman are both tied for 26th in the field after matching scores of 83 (+11). Anderson rounds of the Skyhawks with her 88, good for 36th overall, in her first tournament of the season.

DeBoise had a team-high four birdies during her round that also leads the tournament, including three over a five-hole stretch on the front nine on the par-5 second, par-4 fourth and par-5 sixth, to go with another on the par-5 11th. Roman posted a birdie on the 11th hole as well, while Miller carded ten pars in her round. Anderson posted a pair of birdies, including the par-5 sixth which Stonehill’s six golfers played at two-under-par for the day with Brodahl and DeBoise adding birdies on the hole as well.
