LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) – The Williams Companies, an oil company in Laurel, was golfing for a good cause Thursday.
At the end of the day, the company awarded United Way of the Pine Belt Region with a big check. Proceeds totaled $15,000.
“For Williams, one of our primary sponsors is United Way, across the country,” said Chad Griffith, WC manager of operations. “So anywhere we have operations, we try to support a United Way in that are.,”
Eighteen teams showed up to the Laurel Country Club in the annual golf fundraiser.
United Way of the Pine Belt Region said Thursday’s donation goes a long way every year.
“The money that we receive from the golf tournament is absolutely priceless,” said Betsey Ivey, United Way of the Pine Belt Region executive director. “We serve citizens in Jones, Jasper, Smith, Wayne, and Covington counties, and this money goes to help a lot of families in need,”
This year marked the 22nd annual golf tournament hosted by Williams Companies to benefit the non-profit organization.
