More than one team picking ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders at the 2025 NFL draft needs a quarterback. The Tennessee Titans, at No. 1, need a quarterback. The Cleveland Browns, at No. 2, need a quarterback but also have other pressing needs. The New York Giants, at No. 3, are a lock to take a quarterback after the collapse of the Daniel Jones plan. You would think two of those three teams will go for a quarterback … but what if they don’t? Pete Carroll and the Raiders, picking at No. 6, are hoping for the dream scenario. Some mock draft analysts think it just might happen.
Raiders Wire has more on this story:
“When examining the Raiders roster, there are five positions that jump out as their biggest needs. The Raiders have four picks in the first three rounds The Athletic’s Nick Baumgardner was sure to address the top four needs on the Raiders roster in his three-round mock draft.
“With the sixth overall pick, he has the Raiders taking Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders.”
Are NFL teams really going to let Shedeur Sanders fall to No. 6? Pete Carroll and the Raiders should be thinking about trading up, into the top two, to guarantee they get a franchise quarterback in the NFL draft. Yet, if their inside intel says the Titans and Browns will both pass up quarterbacks to shore up other needs, then one of Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward should be available at No. 6. The Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots are also picking ahead of the Raiders, and they have their franchise quarterbacks. If one quarterback is available after No. 3, that QB will still be there for the Raiders at No. 6, and Pete Carroll can draft a future quarterback without having to trade anyone or anything.
This is clearly the dream NFL draft scenario for Pete Carroll and the Raiders. Now let’s see if it will actually happen.
