The Chicago Bears are expected to be major players in the offensive line department, through free agency and the 2025 NFL draft. When determining their direction and future plans, the Bears will have a better understanding where they’ll go in the draft in April depending on how free agency goes in March.
Holding the 10th overall pick in this year’s draft, the Bears will have no shortage of options, and two of the top prospects who could go early are offensive linemen Will Campbell (LSU) and Kelvin Banks Jr. (Texas). In several mock drafts, the Bears have been linked to both of them, with Campbell being a name that is expected to be available at their selection more than Banks has been.
During his media session at the NFL Scouting Combine, Campbell revealed that he has met with Chicago and was highly complimentary of the coaching staff led by head coach Ben Johnson.
“It went well. Great staff, new coach and know what he’s all about,” Campbell said. “It was a great meeting.”
Campbell would be an instant upgrade for the Bears offensive line which is in dire need of finding more talent to protect their young quarterback Caleb Williams. His position in the NFL is unknown, but he is projected to be able to play both left tackle or left guard as a professional, and it could depend on what team drafts Campbell and how he suits their needs.
There’s no denying that Campbell would be quite the talent for Johnson and the new-look Bears coaching staff to grow in the new offense.
