Sunday is the last chance to play golf at Wildcreek in Sparks until later this year as the executive nine-hole course and championship six-hole layout will close Monday, Jan. 6, for renovations.
The nonprofit First Tee Northern Nevada golf program took over operations at Wildcreek from Washoe County in 2021. The course will remain open to the public after construction.
The project will include a new driving range, new nine-hole championship course and a renovated nine-hole executive course. The course is expected to reopen in the fall.
The renovation is budgeted at $16 million, with a portion coming from county funds from the sale of a portion of Wildcreek land to Washoe County School District to built the new Hug High School.
Phase two of the project will include: A learning center for year-round programming, renovation of the clubhouse including a new public restaurant and pro shop, First Tee administrative offices and meeting spaces, and a new multitier driving range.
First Tee Northern Nevada teaches people ages 7-17 life skill and sportsmanship through the game of golf.
