PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico – ACU fell back four spots in the team standings Monday at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate after posting a 13-over-par 301 in the second round at the Playa Paraiso Golf Club.
The Wildcats are 22-over-par going into Tuesday’s final round, and trail tournament leaders SMU and UTEP by 25 strokes. The Mustangs are 3-under-par after firing an 8-under-par 280 on Tuesday, while the Miners went 13-under-par on Monday after opening the tournament with a 10-over-par 298 on Sunday.
North Texas is third at 11-over-par, followed by UTSA at 18-over-par, Louisiana-Monroe in fifth at 19-over-par, Denver in sixth at 21-over-par, and ACU in seventh at 22-over-par.
Jaime Lewis continues to lead the way for the Wildcats as he carded a second-round 74 and is in 26th place in the tournament at 5-over-par 149. Gregoire Hoyeau is in 30th place after a second-round 74 and a two-day total of 6-over-par 150.
Thomas Buisson is tied with Lewis in 26th place at 5-over-par 149, and Colin Leonard is tied for 30th place at 6-over-par. Freshman Jack Hollingsworth is at 18-over-par, and Trenton Johnson — playing as an individual — is in 39th at 8-over-par.
