The West Indies Cricket Development Academy (WICDA), a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting and developing cricket in the Caribbean, has adopted the Denbigh High School cricket programme.

As part of this adoption, the WICDA will work closely with the school to develop the cricket team and make it one of the best in whatever age group competition they participate in.

“We are thrilled to adopt the Denbigh High School cricket programme and work towards making the team a force to be reckoned with,” said Junior Earl Codlin, president of the WICDA. “Our goal is to provide the players with the necessary skills, training, and support to excel in the sport and make their school and community proud.”

As part of the adoption, the WICDA will provide the Denbigh team with access to its expert coaches, training facilities, and resources. The academy will also work with the school to develop a comprehensive cricket programme that includes training sessions, matches, and tournaments.

In addition to the technical aspects of the game, the WICDA will also introduce mind-power training for the players and their parents. This training will focus on the holistic development of the player, including their mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

“We believe that cricket is not just a sport, but a way of life,” said Codlin. “Our mind-power training programme will help players and their parents to develop the skills and mindset necessary to succeed not just on the field, but in life. We are committed to helping our players become well-rounded individuals who are equipped to make a positive impact in their communities.”

The mind-power training programme will include sessions on topics such as goal setting and achievement, positive thinking and self-talk, emotional intelligence and management, stress management and relaxation techniques, nutrition and wellness, time management and organisation.

“We are excited to be working with the Denbigh High cricket programme and look forward to seeing the team’s progress and success,” said Codlin. “We are committed to helping our players become the best they can be both on and off the field.”
