Micah Parsons thinks Cowboys should draft defensive help in 2025
The Cowboys have the 12th pick in the NFL draft. Micah Parsons weighs in on where the team could use young talent next season.
The Philadelphia Eagles just capped off the 2024 NFL season with a Super Bowl 59 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, Philadelphia will get to celebrate their team’s big-time win.
Meanwhile, the rest of the NFL will move on to the 2025 season and count down the days to Super Bowl 60.
The Chiefs have dominated the Super Bowl discussion in recent years while teams like the Eagles and San Francisco 49ers have twice represented the AFC. Will NFL fans see more of the same in 2025, or will some fresh blood make it to the NFL’s championship game?
It’s still too early to know the exact composition of each team for 2025. NFL free agency and the league’s draft will help determine which contenders bolster their chances of earning a title and which might take a step back.
Still, it’s never too early to make a prediction about the Super Bowl. Here’s a look at the teams that could represent the AFC and NFC in the Big Game in February 2026.

At some point, somebody has to unseat the Chiefs, right? What better time for that to happen than 2025, when Kansas City is potentially set to lose several key free agents, including starting right guard Trey Smith, a handful of veteran wide receivers and three of the team’s four-man defensive tackle rotation.
Three AFC teams stand out as potential challengers to Kansas City: Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals.
Each team has a case for knocking off the Chiefs. The Bills are set to have the most continuity next year, as they have a league-low 14 free agents in 2025 and have been close to beating Kansas City before. The Bengals have a top-tier offense, beat the Chiefs during the 2022 NFL playoffs and possess the most cap space of the bunch ($46.6 million) to upgrade their roster.
Meanwhile, the Ravens have the best depth, giving them the highest floor of the teams, and are the best-balanced of the two teams.
That said, it’s hard to back the Bills or Ravens here. Buffalo is 0-4 against the Chiefs in their last four postseason meetings while Lamar Jackson and Baltimore simply haven’t yet gotten over the hump in the playoffs.
Joe Burrow and Co. have proven they can beat the Chiefs and the star quarterback is coming off his best-ever season. If he continues to improve, Cincinnati should be able to mount another Super Bowl run –provided that new defensive coordinator Al Golden can bolster the Bengals’ weakness on that side of the ball.
A handful of teams could end up winning the NFC in 2025. Chief among them are the defending champ Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders, who met in the NFC championship game this season.
The Eagles have just 18 free agents during the 2025 offseason, so they can primarily run it back with their Super Bowl core intact. Meanwhile, the Commanders have a whopping $78.1 million in cap space thanks to Jayden Daniels being on a cost-controlled rookie contract.
Washington can use that money to plug some of its biggest holes on the offensive line, at receiver across from Terry McLaurin and at the edge rusher position. As such, the Commanders should be better in 2025, barring a sophomore slump from Daniels. He seems unlikely to take a step back after improving every week during the 2024 NFL season and starring during the postseason.
Perhaps the Eagles will maintain their advantage over the Commanders. Or maybe the Detroit Lions will be able to withstand the loss of coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn and get to the Super Bowl with a healthier roster.
But right now, Daniels and the Commanders figure to be the NFC darlings. It’s hard to argue that many teams have a higher ceiling than them entering the 2025 offseason.
A Washington vs. Cincinnati Super Bowl would figure to be a high-scoring contest. Burrow is undoubtedly a top-five NFL quarterback while Daniels, if he progresses well in his second season, won’t be too far behind his fellow LSU alumni.
The Bengals have Super Bowl experience, so some might believe that would give them the edge in this matchup. That said, Commanders coach Dan Quinn also has experience in the Big Game. He was with the Seattle Seahawks during their back-to-back Super Bowl appearances (one win) and led the Atlanta Falcons to Super Bowl 51, during which Atlanta famously blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots and lost.
Quinn’s scars in those contests uniquely position him to have his team ready for this matchup. He also has a history of getting the most out of his rosters, so as the Commanders make upgrades, their ceiling should only rise.
Add in that Daniels will have more experience and be better equipped for postseason football and Washington looks like a legitimate threat to win it all for the first time since 1992.
