Born on November 8, 1998, in Ludhiana, Punjab, he spent much of his childhood in Ambala, Haryana, before relocating to Chennai as a teenager to pursue his cricketing dreams.

Gurjapneet made an unforgettable entry into the Ranji Trophy. On his debut against the formidable Saurashtra side, he produced astonishing figures of 6 for 22, the best by a Tamil Nadu fast bowler in a home match since 2005-06.
