NEW DELHI: West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and opted to bat against Pakistan on the opening day of the second Test in Multan on Saturday.
Pakistan, leading the two-match series 1-0 after a 127-run victory in the first Test, made one change, handing a debut to 30-year-old pacer Kashif Ali in place of Khurram Shahzad.
The West Indies made two changes, bringing in experienced seamer Kemar Roach for the injured Jayden Seales and debutant Amir Jangoo, who replaced Keacy Carty.
This series is part of the third cycle of the World Test Championship, with Pakistan ranked eighth and the West Indies ninth.
Who is Amir Jangoo?
Amir Jangoo is a left-handed wicketkeeper-batter from Trinidad and Tobago, recognized for his performances in domestic and T20 cricket.
Born on February 14, 1997, Jangoo made his domestic debut in 2016 and has been a consistent performer for Trinidad and Tobago. He gained recognition in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for his batting and sharp wicketkeeping.
Jangoo’s inclusion in the Test squad followed a stellar 2023-24 domestic season, where he scored 500 runs in five matches at an impressive average of 63.50, including two centuries.
He also showcased his ODI potential with a debut century against Bangladesh, guiding the West Indies to one of their highest successful chases. He scored a brilliant 104 runs in Windies’ four-wicket win.
