Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the world’s best basketball players, but many may not know he has three brothers who also play professional basketball.
Antetokounmpo, a two-time NBA MVP and 2021 NBA Finals champion with the Milwaukee Bucks, recently led Greece, his home country, to the 2024 Paris Olympics after beating Croatia in a qualifying tournament final on July 7. He did so alongside one of his younger brothers, Kostas Antetokounmpo, who plays in the EuroLeague.

The Antetokounmpo brothers are a quartet of professional basketball players, with Giannis being the most notable.
Giannis is a two-time NBA MVP and a 2021 NBA Finals champion with the Milwaukee Bucks alongside the oldest professional brother, Thanasis, who is on a two-way contract with Milwaukee and also won an NBA championship.
The two youngest brothers, Kostas and Alex, play in the EuroLeague and the Lithuanian basketball leagues, respectively.
Each of the brothers has Greek citizenship. However, Giannis and Kostas were the only ones to make the national team roster ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which they qualified for after beating Croatia 80-69 on July 7.
However, Kostas had to be removed from Greece’s Olympic roster due to a knee injury, according to EuroHoops. Thanasis was also held out from making the roster for his own injury, leaving Giannis as the lone brother representing Greece.
Thanasis Antetokounmpo, 31, was drafted 51st overall in the second round of the 2014 NBA draft by the New York Knicks, playing on their G-League team for multiple seasons before moving back to the professional ranks in Greece. Thanasis was then signed by the Bucks in 2019, where he still is now.
Kostas Antetokounmpo, who made the Greece Olympic roster in 2024, currently plays for Panathinaikos, a EuroLeague team based in Greece. The 60th overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft was a part of their 2024 EuroLeague Championship team.
Kostas Antetokounmpo also is an NBA champion, earning a ring with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 as a two-way player. Alex, 22, is the youngest of the four brothers, and currently plays for Lietuvos krepšinio lyga in Lithuania.
The oldest of the five Antetokounmpo brothers, Francis, does not play basketball.
Giannis will likely end his career as one of the best NBA players ever, with eight All-Star game nods and even an NBA Defensive Player of the Year win in 2020, plus a pair of MVP awards. Giannis Antetokounmpo hopes to carry his home country to a medal finish at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
