Purdue football coach Barry Odom on incoming QBs, UNLV transfers
Hear why Barry Odom added four quarterbacks and how he decided which UNLV players to bring to Purdue.
WEST LAFAYETTE — Purdue football begins its spring season on Tuesday, but Wednesday afternoon is the chance for last season’s seniors to impress NFL scouts in hopes of taking the next step in their careers.
Eleven former Boilermakers will participate in Purdue’s Pro Day.
Purdue has had at least two players drafted in each of the last five NFL drafts, including five being selected in 2023.
Offensive lineman Marcus Mbow participated in last week’s NFL Combine as Purdue’s lone invitee.
Mbow also will perform before scouts on Wednesday along with his former teammates.
Mbow, who declared for the NFL draft despite having one season of eligibility remaining, is one of three offensive linemen partaking in drills on Wednesday. He’ll be joined by center Gus Hartwig and offensive tackle Corey Stewart, who played one season at Purdue after four years at Ball State.
Kydran Jenkins had one of the most prolific careers as an edge rusher turned inside linebacker for his final season.
Hudson Card will try to become Purdue’s latest quarterback pipeline link to the NFL. Card was a two-year starter at Purdue after beginning his career at Texas. Running back Reggie Love III, who played at Illinois before spending his final season at Purdue, will try to follow Tyrone Tracy’s footsteps from the Boiler backfield to the NFL.
Edge rushers Shitta Sillah and Jireh Ojata, both grad transfers this past season, will participate, along with defensive tackle Joe Anderson. Other participants include Ben Furtney, a fullback whose mostly participated on special teams, and kicker Ben Freehill.
