Louisville football’s Jeff Brohm talks quarterback strategy
“Anytime you play the position it’s just a little different than what’s on the chalkboard or TV,” said Louisville football coach Jeff Brohm.
Ashton Gillotte and Quincy Riley had the option of declaring for the NFL draft last year, but they both decided to return to Louisville football for the 2024 season. The two Cardinals wanted another year of growth and development to help improve their draft stock.
Although their numbers dropped some this past season, the two are still in line to be draft picks and were selected to participate in the NFL combine in Indianapolis.
The combine starts with linebackers and defensive linemen at 3 p.m. Thursday, followed by defensive backs and tight ends at 3 p.m. Friday. Quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs are set to compete at 1 p.m. Saturday, and the combine will conclude with offensive linemen at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Riley has an opportunity to be the third Louisville cornerback drafted in as many years, following Kei’Trel Clark (2023) and Jarvis Brownlee (2024). If selected, Gillotte would be the first U of L defensive lineman to be picked since Yaya Diaby, his former teammate, in 2023. During pre-combine interviews, Gillotte said Diaby is someone he studies to prepare for the NFL. The Florida native also said he had an informal meeting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Diaby’s current team.
The 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
